On 28 November, we celebrate the adoption of the Rome Declaration, the founding document of the EU/Horn of Africa Migration Route Initiative, also known as the Khartoum Process. This milestone marks 10 years of fostering dialogue and collaboration between countries along the migration route from the Horn of Africa to Europe. Initially focused on combating trafficking in human beings and smuggling of migrants, the Khartoum Process has evolved to address broader migration challenges, aligning its efforts with the five domains of the Valletta Joint Action Plan (JVAP) and beyond. Through cooperation and shared responsibility, it continues to promote sustainable and comprehensive migration solutions.
